Is God going to do something about evil?

Is God going to do something about evil?

I am sick of seeing so much evil in our world, whether it be another victim of abuse or another person getting murdered or corporate greed. I am sick of it all.

I wonder if you are, too.

I wonder if, like me, you watch the news and think ‘Not another tragedy?!’

We live in a world where there is so much evil and we have to ask, ‘What is God doing about it?’

It seems to many of us that God is doing nothing and that he will continue to do nothing.

But the Bible talks about a God who will come back in judgment and who will right the wrongs and bring justice to the world.

Are you looking forward to that day?

  1. Creation was made perfect. Free will was given to each one of us. It was the exercise of free will for greed and selfishness that robbed humanity of perfection (Gen 3:1-6)

Hellfire is not a biblical doctrine (Ecc 9:4,5).

Animals were given to humans (Gen 1:26)

  2. Not having heard your answer to the Problem of Suffering (I prefer that to the Problem of Evil – it requires theists to account for an omnipotent, omniscient, benevolent god who knows about and allows unnecessary suffering not caused by any individual) I’m going to take a stab in the dark and assume that the answer was Free Will.

Leaving aside for a moment my deterministic leanings, let’s assume for argument’s sake that free will is actually possible.

Why then, God being omniscient and omnipotent and all, could God not have created a world wherein all of his created beings have free will, yet always choose the action that is in accordance with God’s will? If God knows in advance that someone about to be born is going to sin, then simply prevent that person from ever being born!

Indeed, heaven is often described as a place where the saved live eternally, possessing free will yet choosing only to obey God and worship Him. Christians never describe themselves in future heaven as mindless robots lacking free will to disobey God – rather, they say that their natures in heaven will be different, such that they always CHOOSE to do good.

So it seems that if you want to use the Free Will defence for the problem of suffering, you cannot by extension believe in heaven. If you do believe in heaven, then you must ask: why didn’t god just cut out the middleman (not to mention all the countless unsaved souls destined to burn for an eternity in hell) and create heaven FIRST? Without the pesky snake that is.

  3. Poor poor God… what a pissweak pathetic whining bitch – can’t even get his own creation right. All powerful yeah.

Oh yes, all loving? Threatens his own creation with eternal damnation if they get his name wrong and in addition makes his own creation eat the other members of his own creation, in what’s known as the food chain.

    Nice going Jesus!

  4. This sounds great Hans… Looking forward to Sunday!
